LayerZero Now Live on Hedera: Expanding Cross-Chain Compatibility for HTS

LayerZero Labs has announced its integration with Hedera, a public distributed ledger network known for its unique hashgraph consensus protocol. This integration enables seamless interoperability across Hedera’s decentralized applications (dApps) through LayerZero’s messaging protocol, extending Hedera’s reach within the blockchain ecosystem.

Hedera’s Consensus Protocol and Token Service

Hedera’s hashgraph consensus mechanism, distinct from traditional blockchain structures, utilizes a “gossip about gossip” protocol for verifying transactions, which promotes high throughput and quick transaction finality. LayerZero Labs highlights that this approach not only ensures immutability but also transparency across Hedera’s ledger. With the Hedera Token Service (HTS), the network also allows for efficient creation and management of both fungible and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at low costs, including custom fee structures and compliance options.

Cross-Chain Potential

The integration with LayerZero is designed to offer cross-chain interoperability, enabling assets and data to move seamlessly across Hedera and other blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and more. This expanded connectivity is expected to enhance the adoption of Hedera’s dApps across decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, and various digital asset projects.
