Ronin CCIP Chainlink

Ronin Validators Select Chainlink’s CCIP as Official Cross-Chain Infrastructure

In a decisive vote, Ronin Validators have chosen Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to serve as the network’s official cross-chain infrastructure, enhancing the security of the Ronin Bridge. After a comprehensive three-phase selection process, Chainlink’s CCIP was selected over alternative proposals from LayerZero and Axelar.

The integration of Chainlink’s CCIP will initially support bridge transfers between Ethereum and Ronin, with the broader migration set to unfold over the next 2-3 months. Users need not take any action, as all tokens on Ronin will seamlessly migrate to CCIP without user intervention.

The process began in August when Ronin requested two independent audits of its bridge, aimed at bolstering the security and accessibility of the ecosystem. In September, Ronin launched a competitive request-for-proposal (RFP) process, evaluating LayerZero, Axelar, and Chainlink CCIP. The final vote was held in October, with Chainlink securing the majority of votes from the Ronin Validator community (10 votes), followed by LayerZero (3 votes) and Axelar (0 votes).
